The Melting Ice Cream Truck by The Glue Society

They may have ruined a perfectly servicable ice cream truck, but The Glue Society won $5,000 in the process as part of the Sculpture by the Sea exhibit that occurs annually in Australia.

Core Moral

Just Do It.

No I don’t mean just do it as in stupid stuff. I mean just do it as in just try it; go and do something new. I used to hate standing up and talking in front of a group of people. One year I was in the optimist speech. Surprisingly I got third place. I got myself to Just Do It. It has also gotten me to try other things.

I know it is Nike’s slogan. I thought of this as my moral because of Nike. I enjoy running so I like Nike. I saw Just Do It everywhere and I really liked the idea.

It does come from feeling rather than thinking. That’s exactly why I like this moral. I tend to think and analyze everything and maybe trusting my feelings would be different for me.

Pictures can tell a lot about a person. Usually the only person who understands it though is the person in the picture. To anyone else, it is hard to tell what is happening. A bunch of people are standing in the street and a random guy is standing close to me. No one can see the whole story behind the picture. This was the day I ran my first 5K. This was before I ran Cross Country in high school. I had never run 3 miles as a race. Going to this event, I was planning on running the one mile. This is definitely not the best picture of me. I don’t even have a real smile because I was worried about the run and the weird guy standing very close to me. This picture does not show my true self. It does not show my love for running.

This trailer of Mean Girls shows so many of the stereotypes about high school. It shows cliques, but to an extremely where it is dangerous to talk to someone outside of your clique. Also, the rich blonde has all the power over the students and teachers. She also has at least two dumb and beautiful friends with her to make her look better. Cliques do exist in school, but it isn’t as noticeable and most people are in many different cliques. This video and Denby include examples of similar stereotypes that have existed in the high school environment.

Megan Matsuoka made this poster as part of a self-imposed challenge called 100 Posters in 100 Days. “To boost my creativity, practice my design skills, and learn to not over think too much - I’ve set myself a goal to create a 100 Posters in 100 Days,” she says. “I have chosen to use inspirational quotes as my content.”

Her only rule was that she had to create each one within an hour.

Wooden Lightbulb by Ryosuke Fukusada

Wooden lightbulbs, how do they work? Miracles exist all around us, but this particular LED lightbulb is carefully wrapped in a thin wooden sheet, chipped away until its thin enough to glow.

Einstein is the only figure in the physical sciences with a stature that can be compared with Newton. Newton is reported to have said “If I have seen further than other men, it is because I stood on the shoulders of giants.” This remark is even more true of Einstein who stood on the shoulders of Newton. Both Newton and Einstein put forward a theory of mechanics and a theory of gravity but Einstein was able to base General Relativity on the mathematical theory of curved spaces that had been constructed by Riemann while Newton had to develop his own mathematical machinery. It is therefore appropriate to acclaim Newton as the greatest figure in mathematical physics and the Principia is his greatest achievement.
